The game master is responsible for the live session and the people in the room. Start from Game master in the correct location, with the booking and physical room ready.

Before pressing start

Confirm the group has checked in, required waivers are complete and the desk has handed over any outstanding issue. Complete your safety briefing and make sure the correct room display is open. Check timer readability, clue delivery, sound and the venue’s normal method of observing or communicating with players.

A saved screen configuration is not proof that the physical device is connected. Rehearse the controls before the shift using the public demo or Test game screen, where experiments do not affect real sessions.

During play

  1. Start the intended session at the agreed moment after the briefing.
  2. Watch the clock and the players. Use pause, resume or time adjustments only when your operating policy calls for them.
  3. Respond to clue and technical-help requests. Send the intended text to the correct room; check the player display when a delivery appears uncertain.
  4. Use configured checkpoints to match the progress of the game. Their labels and cues should support your real puzzle sequence.
  5. Keep the desk informed if the session will affect the next arrival or reset window.

The rehearsal includes local demonstration replies and puzzle effects. Do not assume every rehearsal mechanic controls a live room: physical locks and props still follow your venue’s actual installation.

Finish the session

Record whether the team escaped and the relevant result information. Verify the outcome before using follow-up or photo actions. Some actions can send guest messages; inspect settings and the audience before using them. The Help email gallery renders previews without sending anything.

Return the room to its ready state using both the software workflow and a physical reset checklist. Remove or reset temporary clues, props and devices. Hand unresolved technical problems to the next game master before the next team enters.

If the screen fails

Keep supervising the guests. Confirm the correct session and network first; don’t restart or create a second live session merely because one display is stale. Use your established manual timing/communication fallback and follow the troubleshooting guide.
